Little Falls Highway 27 River Crossing Project

Little Falls Highway 27 River Crossing

The City of Little Falls is working to address safety and traffic operation issues along the Highway 27 (Broadway Avenue) bridge crossing over the Mississippi River. These issues are caused by the at-grade railroad crossing at the west end of the Highway 27 bridge.

With information provided in the 2017 Feasibility Study, the City, in partnership with MnDOT, received funds through a Federal Rail Authority grant program to develop alternatives, evaluate the options and complete the environmental review process. The project aims to provide a design recommendation next summer, with construction planned to begin in 2030.

The following are included as part of the project:

·        Safety improvements for all road users

·        Improved access across the Mississippi River

·        Grade separation with the railroad

·        Bridge replacement
