Streets & Parks
The City's Streets and Parks is a division of the Public Works Department and is comprised of heavy equipment operators, equipment operators, and park maintenance personnel; with over 194 years of combined service to the City.
This division is responsible for the maintenance of the City's infrastructure systems, including the sanitary sewer collection system and storm sewer system, street sweeping, pothole patching, street signs, and lighting. They are responsible for the repair, maintenance, and snow removal for approximately 76 miles of the municipal streets, avenues and alleys, as well as City owned parking lots.
Additionally, this division maintains approximately 166 acres of City parks, including mowing. They flood the outdoor ice skating and hockey rinks; maintain City owned tennis and basketball courts. They also provide outdoor maintenance of City buildings, [i.e. City Hall, Carnegie Library, Fire and Police Departments, Water and Wastewater Treatment facilities].
