Originated in 1903, the Little Falls Fire Department is proudly celebrating its 114th year of dedicated service. The Little Falls Fire Department serves approximately 236 square miles and an estimated population of 15,000 citizens. At the core of the Fire Department is a highly trained group of thirty-four dedicated firefighters providing the highest possible level of service against natural and manmade emergencies. Our coverage area includes the cities of Little Falls and Fort Ripley; and the townships of Belle Prairie, Fort Ripley, Green Prairie, Little Falls, Pike Creek, and Ripley.
LFFD includes one fulltime employee, Fire Chief Michael Nieman, who began as a firefighter in 1985 and became Chief in 2006; along with thirty-three highly trained and motivated paid on call firefighters. The LFFD has two fire stations, one located at 314 Northeast First Street which is considered the main hall; and the second located at 107 Southwest Sixth Street.
Services provided by the LFFD include, but not limited to, fire suppression, search and rescue, hazardous materials response, code enforcement and inspections, fire investigations, and fire prevent and education.
