Mission Statement

To provide a safe, positive environment through the responsive, efficient and cost-effective delivery of City services while celebrating and building upon our treasured history.

This statement is adopted with the following core beliefs:

The City Council meets on the first and third Mondays of each month beginning at 7:30 p.m. The meetings are rebroadcast on Public Access Channel 180 on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

I am a lifelong resident of Little Falls.  I have five brothers and two sisters and they all live within 30 miles of Little Falls.  My wife Wendy and I have been married for almost 25 years.  I have been employed at Coborn's Superstore for 39 years, the last 20 of which have been as Store Manager.  I served over nine years on the Little Falls Board of Education, two years on the City Council and the last two years as Mayor.  I am an avid Minnesota sports fans and I enjoy fishing and hunting in my spare time.  I love being Mayor of my hometown and am honored and humbled to serve the residents of our great community!

Raquel Lundberg, First Ward

Raquel is the daughter of parents who were Lutheran missonaries to Bolivia, South America.  She was born in La Paz, Bolivia and lived there until she was 11 years old.  She graduated from high school in Floodwood, Minnesota, in 1980 and the moved to Camrose, Alberta, Canada, to attend the Canadian Lutheran Bible Institute.  After two years she returned to Minnesota.  She married Randy Vorderbruggen in 1984 and together they had two sons, Jake and Sam.  In 1990, Randy was killed in an accident, and in 1996 Raquel married Scott Lundberg.  They have now been married for 20 years, living the first ten of those years in Eagan, MN.  During that time Raquel returned to school and earned an AA Degrees in Graphic Communications, and Scott worked for the Ford Motor Company at the St. Paul Assembly Plant.  Raquel was self-employed in the cleaning industry.

In 2006, Raquel and her husband moved to Little Falls to start a business and since then have owned and successfully operated the Waller House Inn bed and breakfast.

Raquel served on the Council at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Minneapolis for six years, the Great River Arts Board in Little Falls for four years and is currently the President of the Board at the Little Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau. 

Raquel is very interested in tourism and it's economic impact and would like to increase that impact on Little Falls and the surrounding community.

Her hobbies include cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, jewelry making, painting, interior design, gardening and bike riding.  She is also fluent in Spanish.

I am the fourth generation to reside in southeast Little Falls [Ward I]. 

I arrived to the Little Falls area [Randall] when my Dad decided to move our family back home in 1984.  Other than a three year stint in the United States Army, I have called this area home ever since. 

Upon discharge from the Army, my wife Jennifer who was born and raised in southeast Little Falls, and I moved back home and we purchased our house in 1996.  We have lived here ever since with our two children Amanda [21] and Aaron [18].

I retired from the Army National Guard after 20 years of service in 2010.

I am currently a Commercial CLaims Manager for a major national insurance carrier with responsibility for the West Great Lakes Region.


Jerry Knafla, Second Ward

Jerry Knafla was appointed to serve on the Little Falls City Council in 2014, and was then elected to serve a four-year term on the City Council in 2016.  He also serves on the Airport Commission and is a member of the Library Board.  He looks forward to helping shape the future and overcoming the challenges of the community he and his wife Pat, have lived in for over 40 years.  They raised their two children here and value the education they received at ISD 482.

Jerry graduated from Sauk Rapids High School and attended St. Cloud State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education.  Upon graduation he moved to Little Falls and began his teaching career.  After teaching, guiding, encouraging, and challenging over a thousand Little Falls children for 35 years, he retied for ISD 482 in 2007.

Jerry's involvement in the community includes being a member of Zion Lutheran church where he serves on the Board of Elders, is co-superintendent of the Sunday School program, and is the director of the adult choir.  He also is involved with the local community theater where he has directed and performed in many productions. 

In his spare time, Jerry also works for Emblom Brenny Funeral Service and the Pine Ridge Golf Course.  His hobbies include traveling, reading, gardening, golf, and spoiling his grandchildren.


Wayne Liljegren, Second Ward

My name is Wayne Liljegren and I live on Circle Drive in Little Falls.  I grew up in Cushing, Minnesota, on a farm and graduated from Little Falls High School.  I am married to my wife Shirley and have been for 46 years.  We have two children, son Michael and daughter Lori.

I worked at Camp Ripley for 30 years as a plumbing and heating technician.  I served in the military for 32 years with 6 years in the Navy and 26 years in the National Guard.  I retired as a First Sergeant for the 142nd Engineers.
