| Authorities, Boards, Bureaus, Commissions, & Committees Do you want to be involved in your community and in local government? The City of Little Falls encourages involvement from its Citizens. One of the ways we accomplish this is through our authorities, boards, commissions, and committees. They are all advisory groups, making recommendations to the City Council. All of the City’s authorities, boards, commissions, and committees require residency within the City. If you are interested in becoming a member of any of the boards, please contact City Hall at (320) 616-5500. The Mayor makes the recommendations for appointment. Airport Commission: Oversight of improvements and management of the Little Falls/Morrison County Airport is the purpose of this Commission. The Commission is made up of three members appointed by the City Council and three members appointed by the County Commissioners serving three year staggered terms. Architectural Review Board: The purpose of the Architectural Review Board is to establish a uniform architectural design and appearance of property and buildings when public funding is involved. The goal is to develop a positive community image. The Board is comprised of three members serving three year staggered terms, one each from the Economic Development Authority, Housing Advisory Appeals Board, and Planning Commission. Cable TV Review Board: The Cable TV Review Board reviews public access channel operations and policies. The Board is comprised of five members serving three year staggered terms. Community Beautification Task Force: This is an ad hoc advisory Task Force created in March 2007, to determine ways to beautify our community. The Task Force has no limit to its members who are appointed by the City Council. Economic Development Authority: The Economic Development Authority’s primary purpose is to promote and finance the growth of commercial and industrial development. The Authority is comprised of five members, two of which are members of the City Council serving six year staggered terms. Golf Advisory Board: The Golf Advisory Board provides advisory guidance for the operations and maintenance of the golf course, subject to approval of the City Council. The Board is comprised of five voting members serving three year staggered terms together with representatives from the Golf Association, Canadian Cup League, and the Women’s Golf Association. Heritage Preservation Commission: The Heritage Preservation Commission looks at issues dealing with preservation and protection of buildings and lands having a special historical, cultural or aesthetic interest or value within the City of Little Falls. The Commission is comprised of seven voting members serving three year staggered terms, and one additional member from the Morrison County Historical Society. Housing and Redevelopment Authority: The Housing and Redevelopment Authority is created to deal with substandard, slum or blighted areas that are redeveloped with government assistance within the City. The Housing and Redevelopment Authority also oversees the operation of Pine Grove Manor. The Authority is comprised of five members serving five year staggered terms. Library Board: The Library Board provides advisory guidance to the City Council and the Great River Regional Library for care of the Carnegie Library grounds and buildings along with long range capital improvements for the library. The Board is comprised of five members serving three year staggered terms. Park, Recreation and Tree Board: The Park, Recreation and Tree Board provides advisory guidance for the parks and recreational facilities within the City of Little Falls along with planning for long range capital improvement park projects. The Board is comprised of five members serving three year staggered terms. Planning Commission: The Planning Commission advises the City Council on planning and zoning issues in the City. This Commission is also responsible for the development of the comprehensive plan and collaborates with City Council on implementation of the plan for future development and land use. They also provide guidance on long range capital improvements for the community. The Commission is comprised of five members serving three year staggered terms. Sister City Committee: The Sister City Committee promotes the exchange of ideas, traditions, understanding and personal friendships between the people of Little Falls and Le Bourget, France, and any other cities designated. They also fund raise, coordinate activities, and make arrangements for visitors from Le Bourget. The Committee is comprised of nine members, serving three year staggered terms. | ||||||
